Travel Nursing Quotes & Words to Live By

I’m a huge fan of inspirational quotes. My walls are adorned with wooden signs which extol the virtues of bold adventure and extracting the most out of life. In fact, it was a quote by Mark Twain that helped inspire me to begin traveling in the first place; when I saw that same quote on a travel nursing company’s website, I knew it was a match for me.
I think we can all use a little motivation from time to time, and the right words can offer just the encouragement we need.
If you are at the point where you could use some inspiration in your life and your nursing career, consider some of my favorite adventure/travel quotes and how they apply to travel nursing.

This quote was the one that helped jump-start my travel nursing adventures, and continues to be a huge inspiration for me. When I imagined my older self, telling stories around a campfire, I wanted my tales to be true—not made up fantasies or dreams. I wanted to remember a life of things I lived and tasted firsthand; not regret what I didn’t do.
And trust me, travel nursing jobs provide plenty of entertaining stories to tell!

It’s not surprising that this line has become so popular on bumper stickers and T-shirts. It is the mantra for many a traveler. Specifically, it makes me think about the weeks you can take off between your travel nursing assignments.
My wife and I always made the most of this time. I would work a little extra and save some money, then we would bounce around to our next destination. The shortest distance between two points may be a straight line, but it’s definitely not the most fun way to get there!
Take the scenic route, get off the beaten path and explore this great country in your own, unique way.

Okay, Pooh may be a fictional character, but that little yellow bear knows what he is talking about.
Travel nursing is one big adventure—from each road trip and relocation, to the different hospitals and amazing people you will meet. Taking that first step of contacting a recruiter is an adventure in itself.
Travel nursing awoke a sleeping giant in me; I now have a thirst for new adventures and new locations that can never be quenched. I have since passed this on to my children, and can’t wait for decades more of traveling and exploring.
