UNIT DESCRIPTION:
Nurse:Patient Ratio 1:3, 26 Beds in Unit, Average Daily Census: 23, Patients in unit: Adolescants, Adults, Geriatrics, Unts uses CNA's, Monitor Techs, and Ward Clerks, Unit Patient Population: Coronary Heart Disease, MI Chest Pain, Angina, Minor post-cardiac cath, CHF, COPD, Renal, Diabetes, Hypertension, Respirator Patients, CAPD, Stroke. RN will float to CCU or MS (depending on their contract) however, this is rare, will be oriented to potential float unit in orientation. Specific Medications: Dopamine up to Renal dose, Dobutamine, Cardizem, Integriliin, Amiodarone, Lidocaine, Heparin, and Insulin Drips. We push Lopressor, Dig, Adenosine, verapamil, RN's need to have experience with these meds. Special Procedures done on units: CAPD, Elective Cardioversion, Thoracentesis, TCP. Blook products and Transfusions done on unit. Special equipment used in unit: Philips, TCP, BIPAP. Scrubs any color, provided by RN. RN's expected to attend staff meetings
